Cosmic Star II (Upcoming)
Program Brief
Target Group: Students of Classes XI–XII & Early Undergraduates (16–19 years) – Advanced Space Technology & Mission Design
Programme Structure: Intensive Research-Oriented Learning, Deep Engineering Exposure & Real Mission Contribution
Topics Covered:
Activities:
Hohmann transfers, orbital perturbations, interplanetary trajectory design, and delta-V calculations for real mission planning.
In-depth study of ADCS, EPS, OBC, communication links, and thermal control; exposure to CubeSat standards and design constraints.
Principles of imaging payloads, multispectral and hyperspectral sensors, SAR basics, and real-world data interpretation for agriculture, disaster response, and climate monitoring.
Systems engineering lifecycle (ConOps to CDR), requirements management, trade-off analysis, risk management, and space mission architecture.
Activities:
Teams design a complete CubeSat mission from concept to preliminary design review (PDR), including payload selection, orbit definition, and link budget calculations.
Download and analyse real telemetry from operational satellites; interpret remote sensing imagery using industry tools and present findings.
Set up Software Defined Radio (SDR) stations, decode live satellite signals (NOAA, ISS SSTV), and practice real-time ground station operations.
Students author a structured technical paper on an assigned space topic and present it before a panel of space scientists and engineers in a simulated conference format.
